NEW DELHI India, July5, Reuter; Drug traffickers in India face detention without trial for up to two years under a new law introduced on Tuesday, a government statement said.
A spokesman said officials were also considering another law allowing for confiscated drugs to be destroyed quickly to prevent pilfering by police or court officials.
Under India’s present laws drugs seized during an arrest have to be preserved as evidence until criminal proceedings end.
