NEW DELHI,(PTI):The Center would initiate steps to club all pending court cases on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute for consideration of “one judicial authority” and the exercise would be completed within four months, prime minister P.V.Narasimha Rao, assured parliament July 27.

Rao denied that he had struck any deal with the religious leaders for getting the Kar sevaks (voluntary workers) to stop temple construction work at the disputed site.

He was replying to clarifications sought by members in the upper house on his statement on developments in Ayodhya.

The prime minister said he had given no assurance to the saints for amending the constitution facilitating construction work.

He said it would be if for the government to fix a time frame for the judicial’ to decide on the dispute and the four months deadline was for the government to complete the fairly elaborate exercise of consolidating the various litigations pending in different courts.

He said the decision of the judicial authority would be binding on all parties.

Rao emphasised that he had discussions with opposition leaders, to elicit their views on resolving the problem.

Rao sought the cooperation of all political parties, institutions and organization concemed in the efforts to end the present dispute.
