VANCOUVER BC: In a surprising turn of events, Mahesh Inder Singh who was charged in the Langowal assassination and scheduled for deportation will be released by the B.C. courts on a surety bond Wednesday, April 26 ethnic.
Attorneys for Mr. Singh, Leslie J. Mack off and Narinder Singh Kang told WSN that although the Superior court in B.C. had initially denied bail when Singh was first arrested in December, the appeals court, presided over by Mr. Justice H.A.D. Oliver considered Singh a bona fide political activist and member of an group (Khalistani) that had a genuine fear of being the victim of TADA if he were deported to India. The judge also ruled that India had used improper tactics in attempting this extradition and that Mr. Singh was justified in going into hiding.
Although Singh admitted he was the former Press Secretary of the Sikh Student Federation, he has not admitted any guilt in the Langowal affair. The attorneys and Mr. Singh are relieved that this part of their ordeal is over but attorney Kang told us that even if the TADA charge were dropped, Singh still faced being held under that Draconian and Black law that India has used indiscriminately to punish minorities and political activists.
