JAIPUR (PTI): India will face a foreign aid crunch in view of the worldwide squeeze in aid budget, World Bank vice president Dr.V.Rajagopalan said here Feb.12. In an informal discussion on “current economic issues of global concern” at the institute of development studies, Dr.Rajagopalan said even traditional donor countries were finding it difficult to fund the aid commitments.

Major donors like Sweden, Norway, Finland, Britain and Germany were cutting their aid funds. Only Japan was willing to maintain its commitment.

He said India used to get 40% of the IDA aid but would now be getting less since nine more countries were in the race to claim the IDA money.
