NEW DELHI India has conveyed its serious concern to the Australian authorities over its decision to sell mirage III airport to Pakistan, terming it as a negative development in the context of the bilateral relation between the two countries.

Stating this in the Lok Sabha in response to a calling attention notice, minister of external affairs 1K. Gujral said India had conveyed to the Australian high commissioner that this was a most unfortunate and regrettable decision particularly in the context of the current tension prevailing in the sub-continent.

The decision, the external affairs minister said, was not calculated to send a message of restraint to Pakistan nor would it contribute to the stabilization of the situation which is the stated aim of Australian policy in the region.

He said it was also pointed out that the decision was particularly unfortunate in the context of the traditional friendly relation between India and Australia,
