LONDON: Aug.20: The Indian High Commission spokesman said that India was seriously considering hire of a specialized pro agency to counter the Kashmiri human rights campaign which had seriously damaged India’s reputation in the west.

In the recent weeks several British newspapers have been carrying articles on Kashmir depicting Indian security forces as the principal culprit in New Delhi’s handling of the menace of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

Most of the media reports fail to provide a balanced picture of the situation in the state where trained mercenaries are being sent in large numbers from across the border. Presentations on the Kashmir issue, 100, are generally distorted, the sources said.

Dinesh Singh is likely to meet representatives of the Indian community and the Indian high commission to collectively project India’s position on the Kashmir issue.

A closer interaction between the high commission and the community leaders and the need of en gaging some professional public relations agencies in the UK is likely to be discussed during Dinesh Singh’s meeting with the Indian high commission officials and the community leaders.

Meanwhile, the Indian high commission has taken strong exception to an article in “The Times” alleging that India’s army is on the “rampage” in Kashmir. The article virtually compliments Kashmiri militants because “they did not indiscriminately slaughter their opponents.”
