SEOUL, Oct. 6, Reuter: An Indian boxer lost the silver medal that he won in the heavyweight division of the Asian Games after he was found to have used drugs before his final bout, a games spokesman said.
The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) confiscated Daljit Singh’s silver medal after tests showed he had taken drugs before the fight, the spokesman said.
Kausar Abbas of Pakistan, who ‘won the bronze medal in the event, has been awarded the silver, he said.
The OCA decision did not change the standings of India or Pakistan in the Games which closed yesterday.
Fifth placed India won five gold medals, eight silvers and 23 bronzes. Eighth placed Pakistan won two gold’s, four silvers and three bronzes.
