NEW DELHI: An interim report of an inquiry ordered by the [TDC management has held that the policy instructions on licensing of business premises or restaurants in ITDC holes was not complied with in the award of the license for the Bagiya restaurant where Naina Sahni’s body Was burnt in the tandoor.
The tease licence for the Bagiya Restaurantat Ashok Yat Niwas Hotel was given to M/s Excel Hotel and Restaurant Inc. The interim report indicates discrepancies in the tender documents as well the fact that information given in the documents were accepted without verification. This is despite M/S Excel Hotels not having any prior experience in the field of operation.
“The gravity of the prevailing state of affairs in Bagiya Restaurant cam be gauged by perusal of the report containing brief of the revelations made by officials before the Committee,” the interim report states.
Significantly the balance sheets, income tax assessment certificates for three years and financial performance certificate from bankers were reviewed by the Unit Management in the case of the other tenderers. M/S Excel Hotels was a new company with no past business but their professional credentials were accepted without questions.
