NEW DELHI: India on April 30 “officially” acknowledged the Mujahideen Council as the interim government of Afghanistan.

Making a statement in the lower house parliament, minister of state for External Affairs Eduardo Faleiro said India looked forward to a continuous, constructive and fruitful dialogue with the new authorities in Kabul.

Faleiro said the Indian Ambassador in Kabul, Vijay Nambiar, had been received by president Sibghatullah Mujadidi.
