SRINAGAR: Indefinite curfew has been imposed in Srinagar city from Dec 27 following reports that people will hold mass demonstration on Dec 28 after Friday prayers throughout the Valley to protest against the alleged excesses by security forces on Kashmiris.
An official announcement said here on Thursday evening that there will be no 13-hour curfew relaxation on Friday in Srinagar following apprehension of breach of peace.
Underground militant outfits who have given a 40-hour hartal call from Thursday afternoon have also appealed to people to come out in the streets on Friday after Friday prayers and hold protest demonstrations, Meanwhile, para-military forces cordoned off some downtown and interior localities in the city to conduct house-to-house Searches and militants attacked security forces at three places as authorities relaxed curfew for 13 hours from 5 a. m.
Police sources said special instructions were issued to security forces personnel throughout the Valley following reports that militants were planning to attack vital installations during the 40-hour hartal.
