NEW ORLEANS,LA: On April 16, 95, on the inauguration day, the Sikh Sangat of Louisiana and neighboring states celebrated Vaisakhi (Birthday of Khalsa Panth). Sardar Jagir Singh Mangat and Sardarni Hardyal Kaur Mangat’s dedication (in addition to their Sewa of $125,000) during the construction of Gurdwara Sahib was appreciated through a Saropa.

The land of Gurdwara Sahib was purchased by The Sikh Society of South on February 25, 1983, though the dedication of Sadh Sangat in General, and Dr. Jasjit Singh Walia (the then President of Chairman of the Board), in particular, Dr. Walia’s dedication, and his commitment was appreciated through a saropa. In addition the sangat remembered the dedication of Surjit Singh Sethi, Devinder Singh Bhasin, Narinder Singh Wadhwa, Shamsher Singh Puri, Harbans Singh Ranshi, Sukhdev Singh Walia, Gurmit Singh Grewal, Gurdarshan Singh Singh Khalsa, Gurcharanjit Singh, and Sarabjit Singh Achreja.

  1. Tirath Singh Sohal (The First Secretary of the Sikh Society of South during 1980-1983, who traveled from London to attend the inauguration). too, was honored through a saropa. Dr. Mohinder Singh Orga was honored, through a saropa, for his dedication during the construction of the Gurdwara Sahib.

The sangat did appreciate the sewa of the present executive committee: Dr. Balminder Singh Mangat (President), Dr. Balwant Singh (Vice-President), Dr. Gurbachan Singh Rai (Treasurer), Dr. Rajinder Singh Kakar (Member at Large), and S. Amolak Singh (Secretary). The secretary was ordered by the sangat to receive the saropa on behalf of the committee. Finally, the committee is thankful to Dr. Gurpartap Singh Birk, S. Sukhvinder Singh, S. Varinder Singh, S. Jasbir Singh Sandhu, and S. Jatinder Singh Ahluwalia, for their help and guidance during the fund raising from our beloved sadh sangat of USA and other countries. Sewa of each individual is highly appreciated.
