Jodhpur: The trial of 379 Sikh activists, arrested from Punjab during the Army operation last year, began here from March 16, it is learned.
The activists are being tried in camera in the special court headed by Mr. Khem Chand Sharma, inside the precincts of the Jodhpur Central Jail, where a room has been specially constructed for this purpose.
Over 200 activists including two women have been recently brought here bringing the total of women activists being tried, to three.
The remaining activists lodged in different jails of the country, are being brought here in batches amidst tight security arrangements.
The prosecution has already submitted the charge sheet before the court. Bail applications moved by the relatives of over 100 activists are also pending before the court.
