Vancouver: An impressive function was sponsored by the Rich mond Bahai Community to celebrate the World Religion Day on Sunday January 25 at Kinsman Pavilion Richmond. The function was well attended by the people belonging to various religions races countries and cultures. Prominent personalities from the major world religions expressed their views in English to the great delight of the elite audience.
Pandit G.C Shastri explaining the philosophy of Hinduism said “The aim of life is to get salvation though service and noble deeds. God is one. But we perceive him differently according to our limited capacities.” Principal Gian Singh Kotli a priest and Sikh missionary from Khalsa Diwan Society Vancouver spoke about the universal and all-embracing aspects of Sikhism. Giving brief account of Sikh tenets Gian Singh said “Sikhism believes in love equality fatherhood of God brotherhood of man and service to mankind which can prove effective in promoting unity and multi-culturism in this land.” Speaking about the prophet founder of the Bahai faith BahaUllah (1817-92) Roland McGee said “The religion of god is love and unity. We should not make it a cause of enmity or dissension.”
Pastor Norman Archer spoke on Christianity Yosi Zylberberg on Judaism Imam Mohammed Sabber Zakiah on Islam and Renevich spoke on Buddhism. Afsanch Sabet chairman of the Richmond Bahai Community heartily thanked all the guests and hoped that such functions will go a long way in promoting better understanding and unity among the people belonging to different races religions and cultures.
