Teachers are the pillar of strength, and the guiding force in a students’ lives. Teachers pass on values to children, prepare them for further education, and are the main contributor to good education in a society. Students are deeply affected by teachers’ love and affection, character, competence, and moral commitment. Teachers are arguably the most important members of our society. They give children purpose, set them up for success as citizens of our world, and inspire in them a drive to do well and succeed in life. The children of today are the leaders of tomorrow, and teachers are that critical point that makes a child ready for their future.

Teachers have access to educate the youth in their most impressionable years — whether that is in teaching preschool, teaching extracurriculars, sports or traditional classes. Teaching in a right manner is the best way for society to build positive and inspired future generations and therefore design society, both on a local and global scale. Those who have an impact on the children of society have the power to change lives. Not just for those children themselves, but for the lives of all. Teachers can act as a support system that is lacking elsewhere in students’ lives. They can be a role model and an inspiration to go further and to dream bigger. They hold students accountable for their successes and failures and good teachers won’t let their talented students get away with not living up to their full potential.

The teaching is an art, not a science. I have seen hundreds of attempts to bottle up “good teacher” into some formula that could be sprinkled on people to make them better teachers, and each one has failed every time. The reason is because learning is completely subjective and following from that, teaching must then be completely subjective as well. In other words, people learn differently and each person responds to a different style of teaching. The greatest teacher for one can be the worst teacher for the other. Granted, some teachers have the flexibility and creativity to reach a larger audience and could be considered more effective than others but, among that smaller group, there is still no way to determine who is the best. It is a process of enlightenment. It is divine wealth. It helps in realisation of truth.”
We’ve all had teachers who have inspired us, who have made a difference to our lives. Teachers have the power to make or break lives. A great lesson can inspire a passion for a subject that lasts a lifetime, while lacklustre teaching can kill any desire for learning. Teachers are the foundation of a good education system. When we talk about the role of a teacher in the learning process; it is not just in academics or sports, but also in the school of life. A teacher is not just someone who teaches lessons and subjects. A teacher can be a person who teaches morality, character building, art, sport, a belief, a faith, or even a way of living.
