ARLINGTONVA: Hon. John M.Bryant Immigration Judge granted asylum to) Kirpal Singh on his claim of persecution on account of his religion political opinion and membership in “AISSF” (All India Sikh Students Federation). ‘The Immigration & Naturalization Service stipulated not to oppose the grant.
Singh 27 from Punjab India came with: out proper documents in March 1992 and was detained by INS. He was placed in exclusion and deportation proceedings.
Honorable Judge Bryant reviewed many documents as background information about the plight of Sikhs in India. Reports from various human rights organization including U.S Congressional records and a report from Department of State also formed part of the record.
This is yet another case in which an asylum seeker has been successfully represented by attorney Harnam S.Arneja.
