LA HABRAHTS: Over 80 Sikh youth from all over California Arizona and Edmonton (Canada) participated in the 42nd Sikh International Youth Camp organized by the International Institute of Gurmat Studies at La Habra His. California from Dec.26, 1993 to Jan.1, 1994. Over 20 dedicated camp counselors helped in various camp activities such as Morning & Evening Diwans learning of various Paths Kirtan Tabla Punjabi and Art Classes Food Preparation Physical ‘Training Public Speaking Games and Gatka Classes.
Amrik Singh (Canada) Akashi Kaur (San Diego) Maninder Kaur (Pomona) Ranbir Singh Youi (Los Angeles) Harminder Singh and Naiya Kaur (Oregon) and Papaji addressed the campers Covering a large range of subjects. Campers were encouraged (6 ask questions in the Question & Answer sessions. Nine campers were promoted to the next higher rank i. e Junior Counselors Trainee CT) based on their excellent performance in previous camps. They are Gurmeet Singh and Roopa Kaur from Canada Preeti Kaur Mandeep Kaur Rama Kaur and Gurpreet Kaur and Jai Singh from Central California Komal Preet Kaur and Kavita Kaur from Southern California
The camp was inaugurated by New York based Ujaggar Singh founder of the Sikh Youth Federation of North America. He was awarded International Dashmesh Award 1993 on Dec.25, 1993 at the Darbar Khalsa for his dedicated service to the Sikh Community by holding Sikh Youth Campy since 1976.
