The government has decided to issue identity cards to people in the border areas of four states.

The states are Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir, home minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed informed the lower house of parliament.

“No such decision has been taken with regard to the north eastern states,” Sayeed said.

Home ministry will soon formulate guidelines to ensure a uniform compensation to the families of victims of militant violence throughout the country, the lower house of parliament was told.

Home minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed said till now there had been no uniform norms of compensation in states, Ministry would formulate appropriate guidelines in this regard.

NEW DELHI: The Indian government Thursday admitted in the parliament that a militant had secured his release from a Punjab jail on the basis of forged instructions from a court.

Home minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed told parliament that information about other such cases, if any was being collected.
