NEW DELHI: Indian minister for Kashmir, Mr. George Fernandez is being shadowed by the Intelligence Bureau. A charge to this effect was made by the minister himself when he met the Prime Minister VP Singh recently to convey his unhappiness about the way the agency was conducting itself.

Fernandezis a Christian while the Intelligence Bureau brass is mostly Brahmin, the high caste in the Indian social set up. The minister charged that the 1B kept him under surveillance whenever he went to Kashmir.

According to sources even the people Fernandez had been meeting were being questioned by IB men.

Last month Chandrashekhar a senior ruling Janata Dal leader had said his phone was tapped. This had attracted much adverse publicity and the matter had been referred to the privileges committee of parliament.
