SRINAGAR: The two officials of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), M.K.Roy and K.C.Datta, who were allocated by militants from the high security Son war are a here on June 2, were released July 2.
Leaders of the AlJehad, who until Friday had not publicly owned the abduction of the two Officials, handed them over to a local police officer, Mushtaq Ahmed, in the presence of journalists, amid shouting of pro Pakistan slogans.
The two officials were brought to alone in an auto rickshaw. Both of them were blindfolded,
Visibly shaken, the two officials told reporters that they were tor turned by their captors for the first four days of their captivity, after which they were treated “nicely.”
The militants save them Rs 200 each in cash as compensation for their clothes which were tom at the time of their abduction.
Roy is an accounts officer cum cashier while Datta is a teleprompter officer in the Intelligence Bureau.
Reports suggest that the two officials were released under a deal between the abductors and the government The government is reported to have agreed to the re lease of 10 jailed militants, including Babar Badr, former chief of the Muslim Janbaz Force (MIF), now known as AlJehad.
However, both the government and the AlJehad leaders were Tent about the reported deal. Earlier reports said that the militants had demanded the release of five arrested militants in exchange for the two officials.
