LUDHIANA: Yogi Harbhajan Singh who along with his 160 followers visited India for many days had a busy schedule. His program included 4 visit to the Darbar Saheb complex and a meeting with Prime Minister Narasimha Rao at Delhi. The Yogi and his group was given a reception at Amritsar by its Congress (I) mayor where Punjab’s rural development and panchayat minister, Umrao Singh was also present, At Ludhiana, the group Was welcomed by Prithipal Singh Kapur who was made pro vice chancellor of Guni Nanak Dev University by the Congress(I) administration a few years ago. Kapur was close to the then Punjab governor SS.Ray also. Asked to explain his absence from Punjab for nine years whether he was afraid of militants ~ the Yogi snapped back:”1 am not afraid of any one.” When Yogi Harbhajan Singh met Rao at his residence, he was accompanied by Congress (I) M.P. Surinder Singh Alluwalia. Former president Giani Zail Singh also invited the group to tea. Unlike previous occasions the S.G.P.C, this time did not show much enthusiasm in receiving the Yogi and his group. From his activities and meetings in India, it appeared to political analysts that the Yogi had been sent by Indian ambassador SS.Ray.
