COLOMBO: Tens of thousands of Tamil civilians formed a human chain in northern Sri Lanka, calling on the government to halt an imminent military offensive against guerrillas, travelers and rebels said
Last week.

The rebels said human chain was “to draw the attention of the world to the colossal loss of life and large-scale destruction of property” during any offensive.

‘The travelers said the 20mile human chain was formed between the towns of Chavakachcheri and Point Pedro in the Peninsula, about 193 miles north of the capital, Colombo.
