AMRITSAR: According to reliable reports the three border districts of Punjab Ferozepur Amritsar and Gurdaspur are again targeted by the police for house to house searches, three villages at a time.
This going by previous experience is done without warrants and with great brutality. All the boys 14 years and older are rounded up for interrogation. Half of these boys are never heard from again. They become victims of police “efficiency reports” and fill the killed in encounter columns.
Women are being interrogated about the whereabouts of the men.
The new DIG operations D.S. Mangat is proving to be another Gobind Ram.
