LONDON (PTI): Swaraj Paul a prominent non-resident Indian Industrialist has been felicitated by the House of Commons for his contribution to the British industry during the last 25 years.
In a rare gesture the House of Commons adopted an early day motion recognizing the achievements of Paul’s Camaro group which he launched 25 years ago in Britain specializing principally in the manufacture and supply of steel and engineering products for industry.
The motion sponsored jointly by a group of ruling tory party and opposition labor MPs coincided with the silver jubilee celebrations of Caparo group.
British Premier John Major and his wife Norma Major were the chief guests at a luncheon to celebrate the 25th anniversary of T.E. Caparo group in Huntingdon near Cambridge on Feb. 11 in Huntingdon 25 years ago where Paul launched his first industrial Project. Incidentally Huntingdon is also the Parliamentary constituency of major since 1979.
Those present on the occasion included the high commissioner for India L .M Singhvi the deputy high commissioner K.V Rajan prominent NRIs and leading figures of British Industry and members of the Paul family.
