Washington: The hotel where Prime Minister P .v. Narasimha Rao had stayed for a day in Boston May 16 during his US visit had paid $70000 to the Mass commission Against Discrimination as an out-of-court settlement for dropping a probe of racial bias.

The Four Seasons Hotel which directed supervisors to allow only whites to serve Rao during the visit has issued an apology and reimbursed two African American employees $173 each for tips they would have earned serving the Prime Minister and his entourage.
