JAMMU: the Punun Kashmir organization of Kashmir Hindus has demanded creation of “homeland for seven lakh Kashmiri Hindus in the Kashmir valley.
Mr Shailendra Aima told news persons here on Wednesday that Hindus in Kashmir valley were an integral part of the composite cultures of Kashmir which was over 1000 years-old, Kashmir Hindus minus Kashmir culture and ethics of Kashmir. If Kashmir Hindus were erase from the
Kashmir scenario the history of Kashmiri Muslims would not go beyond merely 600 years.
He said the Kashmiri Hindus, who had to fled their homes in the valley and their number was 2,50 lakh felt that they had to bear the brunt of a negotiated settlement which might be arrived at the Union government and other forces in the Kashmir valley. It was strange that Kashmiri Hindus were not involved in any settlement initiatives and the Kashmir Punun believed that no settlement in the Kashmir valley could be complete without the involvement of the Hindus from Kashmir.
Mr Aima said that a homeland for Kashmiri Hindus should be created in the Kashmir valley in the east and north of the Jhelum, with union territory status. Only the creation of such a region within the framework of Indian Constitution could fulfill the political aspirations of the Kashmiri Hindus and could provide a secure future to the community.
