London: President Sewa Singh Lalli of Khalistan Government in-exile has condemned the destruction of the historic Babri Masjid at Ayodhya as “a detestable act of fanaticism made possible by the connivance of the Indian rulers with Hindu fundamentalists.”

Dismissing the Hindu claims that the Masjid was built by the Moghul Empror Babar at the site of Lord Rama’s birthplace he said that it was a concoction to inflame Hindu fanaticism and trigger communal riots which will drag India into a civil war.

“They cannot claim intimidation by the Moghul rulers as the cause of their silence over the centuries” he said “for the Moghul rule was followed by at least a century of British rule during which the issue could have been raised without any fear of intimidation or persecution by the rulers.”

“This is an action replay of what happened in the Punjab in June 1984” he said “with the difference that Indian army was directly involved in the massacre of Sikhs and the destruction and desecration of their holy shrines in 1984 while the present onslaught on the Muslims is being enacted by proxy.

“The proxies—the Hindu fundamentalist leaders—had given notice of their plans several weeks in advance yet neither the Indian Government nor the state Government of Uttar Pradesh took any steps to prevent the congregation of thousands of fanatics or to protect the Muslim shrine from their onslaught.

He said the Central as well as the state Government had connived at the perpetration of this affront to the Muslims feelings and desecration of their shrine—by omitting to take preventive action.

The resulting communal situation clearly indicates that the Indian security forces will be used to facilitate the massacre of Muslims all over India under the pretext of protecting them—as was done in the anti-Sikh riots of November 1984 at Delhi.

The present happenings belie the Indian claims of being the biggest democracy and clearly show that India is a wolf in a sheepskin—a fascist entity masquerading as democracy” he said “It is time world politicians woke up to the truth and revised their attitude towards India.”

Lalli said that this latest incident fully vindicated the view that there is no place in a united India for the non-Hindus; that the only course for non-Hindus of the sub-continent to Survive with dignity was to have their sovereign homelands.

“The Sikhs stand solidly behind the Muslims at this hour of their trial” he said “and will support them in their efforts to defend themselves from the Hindu fundamentalist’s excesses and restore the sanctity of their shrines.”

He appealed to the freedom loving and fair-minded people of the world to put their weight behind the oppressed non-Hindus of the south-Asian sub-continent and induce their respective Governments to take effective measures to protect them before it is too late.
