PATNA: The Patna High Court Friday ordered that the Bihar government’s plea for impleading Atinderpal Singh in the Simranjit ‘Singh Mann case would be heard by Justice P.S. Mishra along with the stay of the Indira Gandhi murder case trial in a Delhi Court, PTI reports.
The order was passed by Justice S.S. Hasan. The state of Bihar is seeking to implead Atinderpal Singh in the Bhagalpur case against S.S. Mann, a former officer with the Indian police force, and five others for sedition.
The Bhagalpur trial court had refused the prayer of the prosecution on the ground of delay and the state than moved the High Court in Criminal revision case,
Atinderpal Singh is in the high security Tihar jail in New Delhi and facing trial on the second charge sheet in the assassination case of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Braj Kishore Prasad, appearing for S. S. Mann, also pleaded that if Atinderpal was impleaded, it would further prolong the case and his client would suffer prolonged stay in custody, his bail prayer should therefore, be allowed.
Justice Hasan permitted him to file the bail petition in appropriate court.
