CHANDIGARH: Former Rewari legislator Mr. Raghu Yadav has written to the Haryana Governor Mr. Khami Lal Mandal that his life is in danger. In the letter he alleges that good as investigated by the police have threatened him and he has sought CPF protection or arms licenses to four of his partymen.

He has charged that police and other district officials were silent spectators when “anti-social elements” threw missiles on the stage with the intention of killing him at Moti Chowk in Rewarion April 7 when he was addressing a public meeting.

Mr. Yadav told a news conference here on Friday that the SDO Public Health had planned to disconnect the water supply to 21 households of Kutubpura under investigation from a minister. On April 1 when Mr Rajendra Yadav along with the municipal commissioner and several others met the district authorities to dissuade them from inconveniencing the neighborhood the Deputy Commissioner assured him that there would be no water shortage. However according to Mr. Yadavs account the next evening Mr. Satish Kumar Bhatia SDP (PH) and three others came to his house and called him out ostensibly to discuss the water problem. Instead the official and his companions began assaulting him. When he went to the police stations sardar to lodge a complaint he was persuaded to sign a settlement after Mr. Bhatia tendered an unqualified apology to him in the presence of the DSP.

Mr Raghu Yadav has alleged that two Haryana Ministers Mrs. Shakuntala Bhagwaria and Capt. Ajay Singh both from Rewari district were prompting the district authorities to encourage the anti-social elements because of the political fallout of a government official having apologized to a rival politician. He alleged that the police were harassing all those who had occupied seats on the stage at the public meeting and demanded a judicial inquiry into the whole affair.
