BOMBAY (PTI): Stock broker Harshad Mehta, an accused in the multicore rupees financial scandal has told the Joint Parliamentary Committee (PC) chairman R.N.Mirdha and concerned investigating authorities that he and his family members are willing to give a letter of authority in favor of “any bank, anywhere in the world, to disclose if there are any accounts standing in our names allegedly containing the secreted wealth.”

In a letter to Mirdha, Feb.17, Mehta, drew his attention to the controversy that had arisen after Press reports on the freezing of his alleged Swiss Accts., drew his attention to the controversy that had arisen after Press reports on the freezing of his alleged Swiss’ Accts. and said he was making the offer to “prove my bonafides further.”

According to him, the official and “all powerful medium of TV™ as well as news agencies had been used to create an impression that he and his family members had stacked huge amounts of wealth abroad. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has already denied having issued any Press release containing the allegations, Mehta said.

“It has now become a million dollar question as to who planted the mischievous news and motivated the official media to appoint, that they did not even verify the basic facts,” he said. He requested Mirdha to conduct a thorough investigation into this “media manipulation” and quickly unmask the truth.
