JALANDHAR: Bhai Harpal Singh was produced before the chief judicial magistrate of Jalandhar on March 30. He was sent back to the jail and will be again required to appear on April 7on the explosive charges.

“The appearance on the March 30 as the first time that Bhai Harpal Singh had come before any judicial body since the Punjab Human Rights Organization and Amnesty International had tried to force the supreme court of India to produce and charge him.

Bhai Harpal Singh was arrested in Bombay a month ago while he was visiting his family from USA.

Last week it was reported that Harpal Singh was looking very weak and limping but was able to appear in the court in seemingly high spirits and very good health.

Although charged with the transport of explosives no evidence has been produced. Meanwhile the gifts that Harpal Singh was asking from California USA this family were confiscated by the police and as yet have not been returned to the family.

A case similar to the one regarding two young Sikh boys Narinder Singh and Tarsem Singh were arrested on March 20 and charged with being linked to militants while they landed on the airport of New Delhi They were visiting their families in Punjab from England. Indian police has charged them with planning a conspiracy to eliminate Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh.

Bhai Harpal Singh was also arrested having potential ties to subversives or militant seven though the evidence indicates that he was merely traveling to India to visit his family.

The story of Bhai Harpal Singh recently had seen another drastic twist. As World Sikh News has reported Bhai Harpal Singh was falsely arrested upon his arrival in Bombay in Feb Subsequently the PHRO and later A. got involved to require the Supreme Court to produce the accused and justify the charges.

A date had been set by the Supreme Court but the police have circumvented the courts request by falsely accusing Singh of yet another crime.

Friday March 20 the police of District Jalandhar arrested Bhai Harpal Singh from village Kukarh for carrying explosives and sent him to Jalandhar jail.

It has been reported by are liable source that the Jalandhar police tortured Bhai Harpal Singh for a several weeks.
