April 13th, The Vaisakhi Day, is an Indo-Aryan new year celebrated in North and Northwest India. It is a day before the Winter harvest. For Sikhs it has an independent significance. In 1699, on Vaisakhi Day, 10th Guru baptized the first five Sikhs and ordained Sikh religion. A small minority, less than 15 million, of World’s religious civilization make up the Sikhs.
Dear Editor,
Guru baptized Sikhs with the following prayer. “Grant Thy Sikhs the gift of faith. uncut hair, discipline, knowledge, mutual trust, self confidence, and the gift of gifts: their communion with God. May Thy passion in their minds remain calm and the reason flow clear and always be guided by the light of God. Grant them the company of those who may help keep Thy name fresh in their hearts. Extend Thy helping hand to all and everyone. May Thy name prevail and prosper forever and ever. May Thy will be done wherein lies the good of all.”
In Sikhism, belief in the existence of God is a must. Sikh believes, having a belief in God turns men’s minds to His qualities: love, justice, charity, mercy. peace, wisdom, truth, goodness, and beauty. When he meditates on His qualities, he imbibes often unknowingly some of those traits.. MAYTHENEXT YEAR BRING MAN. KIND THE ETERNAL JOY, PEACE PROSPERITY AND GOOD WILL TO WARD OTHERS.
