LOS ANGELES: Last month Vaisakhi was celebrated by Guru Ram Dass Ashram in the big halls of Scottish Shrine Auditorium. This is the place where Ashram holds the program every year. The hall was very gracefully and beautifully decorated.
In the adjoining three small halls there was arrangement for vendors to sell books, Gurbani cassettes and other material related to religion, G.S .Malik and Baljit Singh Bhani were there to sell books and tapes. Nanak Parchar Sabha has been serving the community for the last many years.
There was exhibition of rare and precious manuscripts of Guru Granth Sahib ji and other books. Very rare weapons were also exhibited. It was really very credit worthy to the Ashram and is leaders. The langar was provided by different gurdwaras of the area. It is very noteworthy feature of L.A. that whenever there is a big celebration, all the gurdwaras cooperate and supply one or more items to the common Langar.
The program was interesting. Different raagi Jathas were there and they were really good ones. Jathedar Darshan Singh ji was the main attraction.
Yogi Harbhajan Singh was highly impressive in his speech, He asked the government of India to stop all the atrocities being meted out to Sikhs. He condemned them in the strongest possible way,
L.A. Councilman Yarlowaski and Congressman Dohoniey lauded the achievements of Ashram.
The program ended at 5 p.m.
