Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

The year of 1988 was a year of many accomplishments and glory for the Gurdwara Sahib and entire Sikh Sangat of this area. We were able to achieve a lot with the whole of the Sangat. Dedication, Sewa and generous financial support cooperation were the vital factors in the success and glory of Gurdwara Sahib.

Following in brief are the main accomplishments of this year.

(Our Gurdwara was the first church of this are which offered food and shelter to families made homeless by floods which struck this are in February, 1986, About 300 people stayed at the Gurdwara, In addition, this Gurdwara donated $5000.00 to Red Cross for Flood Relief Fund.

Other community activities this year included the donation and ceremonial hoisting on July 4 of a huge American National flag in Yuba City, A contingent of five U.S. military veterans and five Sikhs outfitted with traditional “Kirpans” took part in the ceremony.

In August, Sutter County Library declared a month long celebration for India and to honor the local Sikh community with the help of the Sangat, we organized an exhibition depicting and displaying our culture in the Library. Books about Sikh religion were also donated to the library. A free public dinner was also served,

As a tribute to the Sikh Community, the Yuba City Council declared the whole month of October as “Sri Guru Granth Sahib Month” The painting and photographs illustrating Sikh history and other artifacts of our culture were also put on display in the City Hall,

The Board of Supervisors of Sutter County also proclaimed the week of November 28 as “Sikh Temple of Tierra Buena Week”.

The State Assemblyman Wally Herger (now a Congressman) through a State Assembly Resolution declared the week of ‘November 208 as “Sri Guru Granth Sahib Week”

In brief, all these accomplishments were achieved due to the dedication and great cooperation of the entire Sangat for which we are really thankful.
