March 22 marks the Gurgadi Divas of Guru Har Rai ji, the Seventh Guru. He was the son of Baba Gurditta, the eldest son of Guru Hargobind ji.

Gur Har Rai ji was the Guru from 1644 to 1661. As we read last month, Guru Har ji made Kiratpur his head- quarters where disciples and visitors would pour in from all over, to listen to his preaching and to seek his blessings.

Guru Har Rai ji did not compose only hymns of his own but quoted those of his predecessors in his discourses. He traveled extensively and toured various parts of India, spreading the message of Sikhism.
