Bridgewater, NJ: The Prakash diva of Guru Granth Sahib was commemorated at the Garden State Sikh Association here on Sunday September 11. The occasion falls on September 12 and is one of the most important days in the Sikh calendar. A Bhog of the Akhand Path, the continuous recitation of Guru Granth Sahib, was held on September 11. Nine children aged 9 to 13 years recited the holy Gurbani at the function.

These children had spent the weekend at Gurdwara Sahib reciting the holy Japuji, Rehras Sahib and other Banis.

Giani Harpal Singh the Granthi of GSSA and Bhai Inderjit Singh a Parcharak of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak committee spoke to the congregation on the significance of the Gurpurb.

Earlier, on August 28 the sangat of Gurdwara Sahib paid tributes to Pakistan president Gen Zia Ul Haq who had died in a plane crash on August 17 along with 29 others including the US Ambassador to Pakistan Amold Raphel.

Sikh Cultural Society Richmond Hill New York, and Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Glenrock NJ are scheduled to Gommerate the Gurpurb on September 18.
