In recent years the Sikhs have been through a great deal of political termoil with many negative factors working against them. Therefore, Guru Gobind Singh Foundation Washington decided to take a humanitarian task (ie.to serve langar to 750 homeless people of Washington, D.C. on Saturday, Oct. 11th at the community of Creative of Non Violence Centre run by Mitch Snyder). We feel that the Sikh community would stand to gain much moral strength from these activities and it would also provide a much needed unifying force. With this activity the Sikhs implemented one of the cardinal principles of Sikhs (wand chako). Share your blessings by regularly undertaking such activities; We will go a long way in improving much tarnished image of the Sikhs. We were encouraged by the over whelming support from the Sikh community not in the Washington area but also from ‘outside, We hope this effort will provide an incentive to Sikh organizations to undertake similar activities in different parts of the country.

‘Joginder Singh Bhutani informed that Guru Gobind Singh Foundation will undertake this activity again on Baisakhi and Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birthday every year.
