VIRGINIA: The Sikh Foundation of Virginia (SFY) in Fairfax Station commemorated Guru Arjun Dev Ji’s Shaheedi Gurpurab on June 161991. Bella Deep Kaur a youth spoke on Guru Arjun Dev Ji’s life. Kirtan was recited by groups of SFV Ladies and SFV Children
- Jodh Singh Ji (formerly with All-India Radio) had also spoken on the life of Guru Arjun Dev Ji In his inspiring speech S Jodh Singh while talking about the life and the works of Guru Arjun Dev Ji stressed the importance of Gurbani Internal Message of Peace and Human Cooperation. Quoting profusely from Gurbani he brought out how the Guru’s message of Humility and Universal Brotherhood is as relevant to strife-torn world today as it was then He said Sikhism has to offer something unique to humanity and Sikh citizens of the U.S.A have to be the true bearers of Guru’s preaching the west.
The program concluded with the Kirtan by Giani Kuldeep Singh and Kirtan by Raagi Joga Singh’s. The day itself was a very hot one and the traditional ‘Shabeel’ was served all day. Over 700 people joined the commemorative program.
