GAITHERSBURG, MD: The Washington metropolitan area Sikh Sangat celebrated the Parkash Divas of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji on January 14 under the auspices of The Washington Sikh Center, Gaithersburg M.D. The performance of children in reciting Shabad Kirtan and discourses on the life and teachings of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji were superb.

After the completion of Sri Akhand Path, speeches and Shabad Kirtan were performed by children of varying ages, the youngest of them being Manpreet (6) Gurpreet (8), Dolly (8), and Arjan (8). Others were participated were Gobind (14), Paramjit (14), Amarjit (14) Tarandeep (14), Lakhvinder (15), Sandeep (15), Amarjit (17), Bhupinder (18), Sheena (18), and Jasmine (20).

A ladies group from Northern Virginia Dalprit Singh, Verinder Kathuria and Ranjit Manku, Prof Gurdeep Singh Bawa and family, and Paramjit Singh Bedi sang melodious Gurbani. Ajit Singh recited a Kavita.

Shabad kirtan was also performed by Giani Kuldeep Singh and Giani Jagtar Singh followed by a speech by Dr. Kamaljit Sethi who spoke on the significance of the Gurus message and its relevance in the present time. The program attended by over 250 persons concluded with Guru ka Langar.
