NEW YORK, N.Y.: The Gurpurb of Guru Tegh Bhadur Ji was commemorated at the Sikh Cultural Society, Richmond Hill on December 3 and a large number of Sikhs gathered to pay homage to the Ninth Guru of the Sikhs.
The ragijatha of Bhai Sugjit singh rendered kirtan, Speaking to the Sangat Dr. Gurcharan Singh the President of the Punjab Hu man Rights Organization (USA) asked the Sikhs not to Prejudge the government but at the same time to remain especially vigilant for their rights and should not be trapped like they did in 1947.
“There can be no negotiations on freedom and liberty,” he said adding that even Soviet Union had now realized that it is better to have independent and sovereign nations as your neighbors,
The Sangat was also addressed by Ranjit Singh Johar, the publisher of Ranjit weekly in Bombay, who stressed on the importance of teaching Gurmakhi and Punjabi to the children, Manohar: Singh Mar ko who spoke on the life and Philosophy of Guru Tegh Bhadur Ji.
