Gurpurb (Birthday) of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji will be celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion at

Gurdwara Khalsa Diwan Society 8000 Ross Street, Vancouver on January 10,11 and 12, 1992 as per programme Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th and the last Guru of the Sikhs,

was born in 1666 at Patna in India. During his most eventful life span of 42 years, Guru Gobind Singh gained miraculous achievements and performed most amazing and soul stirring acts of bravery and sacrifices which even today are a peremial source of inspiration, courage and high spiritedness for all the people. Guru Gobind Singh created Khalsa on April 13,1699 and prescribed 5 ks (symbols) for the Sikhs.

All through his life, Guru Gobind Singh fought against tyranny and oppression and sacrificed his all to save the suffering people. Before breathing his last in 1708 Guru Gobind Singh ordained the Sikhs to venerate the holy Granth Sahib as their eternal Guru. Guru Gobind Singh was a strange combination of so many rare qualities. He was a born leader, saint, soldier, statesman, scholar, archer, revolutionary, poet par excellence, savior of the down trodden and the like.
