GUATEMALA CITY: Lefiistrebels intercepted six tanker trucks and spilled 18,000 gallons of crude oil being transported from an oil field in northern Guatemala as part of a campaign of economic sabotage, the army said recently.

Separately, Defense Minister Jose Garcia Samayoa said that rebels of the Guatemalan National Revolutionary Unit blew up three electivity pylons in the southwestern Suchitcpequez region. He did not say when the attack occurred.
