For the past three and a half years, I have been a regular reader of World Sikh News. Time and time again, I find on its pages news reports and other information that illuminate events in Punjab in particular and in India in general.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate World Sikh News on its sixth anniversary of publication.
As a friend of Sikhs in California’s 4th Congressional District and throughout the country, I know the importance of your publication to the Sikh American community. Your newspaper has been a tireless advocate for the protection of human rights for the people of Punjab, and, as a member of the U.S. Congress, I am proud to share your publication’s support for the protection of Sikh human rights. As Americans, who are guaranteed, under the Bill of Rights, freedoms of speech, religion, and assembly we must not forget the Sikhs in India who are denied their basic human rights. For this reason, I commend World Sikh “News for its vital role in bringing the plight of Sikhs in India to the attention of the world.
Again, I wish to extend my congratulations to you, as a leader of the Sikh community, and I wish you many successes it the years to come.
Vie Fazio Member of Congress
