SANFRANCISCO,CA: Asylum Office, Immigration & Naturalization Service, San Francisco granted Mohan Singh, Narinder Singh, Narinder Singh and ManinderSingh, political asylum, because of their well-founded fear Of persecution in future (including the past), if they were to return to India.
Mohan Singh a 27 year young Sikh came to USA on June 21,92 through Mexico border and on September 17,92 filed his request for asylum claiming that he was tortured by the Punjab police. He said he was very fond of Sant Jarnail Singh and believed in his teachings. He was arrested by the police in December 1984, June 1987, December 1991, the last one. in Moga, He explained to the asylum officer his reason he was being tortured, that he should join the Black cats and speak against the Khalistan movement In all he was in police lock up for two months and nine days.
Narinder Singh a 32 year young Sikh came from Muzzaffar pur and landed in USA on November 15,1992 without inspection. He submitted his asylum request on 121593. He was granted asylum on August 2,93. He claimed membership in AISSF and in police lock upon June 89, August 15,89, May 12,90, January 1991 and June 1992. He claimed certain injuries while in custody.
Rajbir Singh is 28 year young Sikh youth coming from Phagwara. He claimed association with AISSF and took part in its civil disobedience movement to force the government to listen to the Sikh demands, He was tortured on seven different occasions for a total of 71 days. He was beaten, kept in a smoke filled room, Spit on his face, let stand on one leg for hours.
Maninder Singh a 22 year young Sikh youth came from Chandigarh as a visitor on March 9,92 at San Francisco, He submitted his asylum claim on July 3,92. He claimed he witnessed the camage in Delhi of Sikh bodies and properties. He was & propaganda secretary. He claim rested on arrests and torture in June 1978, January 1989, July 20 and February 1992, His last arrest was from his home where police came to search the premises. He was detained in Luda Kothli for seven days, hung upside down, given electric shocks, severely beaten and released under pressure from local bodies, He was never charged of any crime or even presented 10 the court.
Each of the asylee is entitled to become a permanent resident a year after being granted asylum.
