NANDED: Giani Pratap Singh Granthi head granthi of Sachkhand Gurdwara here was arrested recently for allegedly supplying arms and ammunition to Punjab militants to be used for blasting police stations along the India Pakistan border the police said. The granthi a resident of Amritsar who joined the Gurdwara four years ago has been taken to Jaipur for interrogation. However his assistant Sukhwant Singh who was arrested during Operation Bluestar was missing the police said.

On Dec 16 the Jaipur police recovered 200 hand-made bombs 400 electric detonators and 13 cartons of bullets from a truck going” to Punjab. Three persons were arrested and the truck driver confessed that he had been paid Rs 12000 by the granthi to smuggle the arms to Punjab.

A senior CID officer of Rajas than and inspector and a central intelligence team arrived here and made a plan to trap the granthi who was nabbed after surrounding the Gurdwara with police’ by Mr Dayaram Chavan police inspector of Vazirabad police station.

The arms were carried to Bhokar Phata about 20 km from here in a Marutivan and loaded in the truck the police added.
