OAKLAND, CA: The Punjab Night ’90 function held here on May 19 was a grand success.
- Sukliminder Singh the chief guest was introduced by S. Gurdeep Singh Sekhon. The chief guest said that “without language culture becomes dumb or silent, nations without their own language and culture die out.”
- J. Hamdani, the stage secretary said our heads are bowed towards Baba Nanak and spoke of the historic ties Sikhs and Muslins shared. Even the foundation of the Golden Temple was laid by a Muslim he said.
The program of songs, dances and skits enthralled the packed auditorium.
The Kaur Organization gave a plaque of recognition for their community service to Mr. and Mrs. Dhanoa. Mrs. Rupinder Kaur Raji presented the plaque.
