NEW DELHI: In the further hardening of Stance against Arjun Singh, the Prime Minister, P.V, Narasimha Rao, had his Council of Ministers “completely and categorically” rejected all allegations Made by the former Human Reduce Development Minister against the Party leadership and ‘the Government. * On the fact of it, the meeting ‘appeared a mere formality as the ‘Council of Ministers had informally taken such step earlier, albeit in the absence of the Prime Minister, Narasimha Rao personally ‘chaired the meeting and his for ‘al move indicated that he wanted ‘to prove that the entire Organization was against Arjun Singh. This was confirmed by the subsequent Decision to refer the Council of Ministers’ decision to the Congress Working Committee (cwo) which was expected to meet shortly.

Briefing media persons about the Council of Ministers’ proceedings, ‘an official spokesman merely said: “The Council of Ministers discussed in detail the letter written by Arjun Singh to the Prime Minister. After a full discussion it completely and categorically rejected the allegations made in the letter. This will be duly reported to the Congress Working Committee announcement came as an anticlimax to the intense speculation set off by the move to convene the meeting at a short notice. It appeared that the Prime Minister had decided to wait for reshuffle till the CWC meeting. He did not seek the ministers’ resignation.
