Thousands of innocent people belonging to a minority are annihilated by frenzied mobs. The perpetrators are shielded and their leaders are given top Cabinet positions in the government. A massive disinformation campaign is launched to tell the people that this minority is responsible for the woes of the nation. Germany in the 1940sIndia in the 1980.

In November 1984 Sikhs in Delhi and other cities were killed by the mobs, which independent commissions of inquiry by human rights groups have shown, were lead by Congress I leaders. Police and Army either stood by as the massacres took place or actively instigated the perpetrators or participated in the slaughter of Sikhs. Rajiu Gandhi, Indira Gandhi’s son tried to justify the carnage by saying “When a big tree falls the earth shakes” The government sought to minimize the number of those killed and the scale of violence. Still, Delhi administration admitted that over 2,700 Sikhs were killed. All other sources place the number much higher. No statistics are available for those killed in other Congress I ruled states all over India. Sikhs had to launch a political’ agitation before the government commissioned an court of inquiry as a concescession to the Sikhs. In the Longowal-Rajiu agreement. So blatant was the partisan nature of this Rangaath Mishra Commission that the non Sikh human rights groups which were assisting it, bycotted it. Sikhs deposing on the first day od the commission were assaulted and their possessions burnt when they returned home. Police have been harassing the people who assisted the victims of the carnage.

The commission, predictably, did a cover up job but in the face of overwhelming evidence they had to indict some Congress activists, The Jain Bannerjee Committee was empowered to monitor police action on the matter and to file cases against the perpetrators. It eventually did file a few but last week the Delhi High Court stuck down the notification of the lieutenant governor which had set up the body.

Either the authorities did not know that they were empowering a body which would be stuck down in the court, in which case they should be thrown out for incompetence or they knew perfectly well what they were doing and the whole thing was preplanned. In either case,

Now the mass murderers of the Sikhs are sought to be let freelegally. We call upon all Sikh organizations to make their representatives aware of the monstrous injustice to the Sikhs. The organizations should campaign to the State Department to ban the entry of those who were indicted by Humqan Rights organizations as bearing the prime responsibility of the Delhi carnage, especially Cabinet Ministers H.K.L. Bhagat and Jagdish Tytler, into United States just as Austrian President Kurt Waldheim was.

Every government has not only to be just, it has to be seen to be just. Otherwise the people throw it out. All the peoples of the world, Americans, Polish or Sikhs, seek freedom and justice, if they do not get it, they throw off the shackles of the unjust rulers and establish their free sovereign nations.

The history of the Sikhs since India became independent has been one of broken promises and justice denied. All their demands to be treated justly were denied by the majority Hindu community.
