CHICAGO IL: Gov. Jim Edgar Congratulated 45 Asian American Professionals including five Sikhs In their completion of a volunteering program which prepared to teach other small business   how to find and use beneficial government services.

 Often time’s minorities are not well informed about programs which will help them establish and Nurture their small business endeavors the Governor said. “This State initiative shows that cultural and language barriers can be overcome when professionals in the Community work together i commend each of the bankers attorneys accountants and business Owners who completed this program. The information they have learned will help hundreds of other businessmen in their communities.”

The six-week program sponsored by the Office of the Governor and coordinated by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs included information on gaining access to job timing exporting and financing Services at state local federal and independent agencies

The graduates will each donated 30 hours of time to pass on their newly acquired knowledge. “The Chambers of Commerce play a vital role in the economic and cultural development of their Communities” Edgar said. “I commend each one of them for their prominent role in this important project.
