Dear Editor, in their recent press release, the World Sikh Organization has called upon the United Nations to “formally request The Government of India to cease and desist all Human Rights abuses against non-Hindu population in India.”

It is an irony that almost all The Human Rights abuses are carried out by the governments in various regions of the world. The Structure and functioning, The Human Rights Organization, especially The United Nations Human Rights Agencies is such that indeed of eliminating abuses, they are ineptly helping to perpetuate The Human Rights violations of the masses. Sometimes, they are even a hindrance to justice by unjustly denying the effective representation to the victims of the abuses. The case of WSO trying to obtain NGO status at the United Nations for the past eight years is a classic example of insincerity and injustice of this world body. Although it is known that mere NGO status for a representative body of the Sikhs is not going to do much in alleviating the pain of Sikhs, who are suffering pain from extreme brutality and torture killing practiced by the government of India on a continued basis for over a decade now. To deal effectively with the tragedy of torture by the government officials, it is imperative to separate Human Rights violations into two categones. The practice of physical torture and crimes against human dignity must be stopped through immediate powerful action against a government, by the world community. The guilty officials must be punished adequately irrespective of the reasons or justifications for invoking torture of individuals. Secondly the struggle against general Human Rights violations can be conducted through persuasion and education of governments and their officials. In Khalistan, Kashmir and India the government officials who are taking part in daily torture and killing of people must be brought before the International law of Justice, The guilty officials must be punished for their crimes against human dignity, this is the only way to bring peace and keep peace.
