mukatsar: Punjab’s Irrigation and Power minister Harcharan Singh Bar here stated that Punjab Congress (I) was in favor of Punjab’s demands regarding Chandigarh and river water issue a was willing to hold talks with Akalis and militants.
Speaking to newspaperman of his first visit to the town on becoming minister Brar asked Akalis as to what they wanted. They should clarify their demands. The government was always willing to talk to them Brar said the government was in favour of holding election to them local bodies like Panchayat block samitis zila parishads and market committees Brar also reiterated his stand that S.Y.L canal would not be constructed until a settlement on the water disputes was arrived at.
